Half a mile North West of JR at Gion Station stands the hip and affordable Dormy Inn. Its location is ideal, putting it in the center of the city. As with its other branch locations the rooms are small, clean and modern, but not too stylish.

West of Hakata Station, 5 minutes by foot stands the very hip and surprisingly affordable Active! Hotel Hakata. Like its cousin in Nagasaki, the Active! chain are known for their small yet very stylish interiors and dirt cheap room rates. The Hakata branch is no exception. Coupled with its central location it becomes possibly the best choice for accommodations in Fukuoka. Other bonuses include a delicious and complementary breakfast.

The only downside foreigners will find in the Active are the rather small hotel rooms, this is normal in Japan however.

Double Occupant: $110

Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin

4-8-25 Watanabedori, Chuoku, Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture 810-0004, Japan
+81 92-739-2055

A mile West of JR Hakata at Nishisetsufukuoka Station and Tenjinminami Subway Station is the Richmond Hotel Fukuoka. Travelers will need to transfer at Hakata Station to the subway and take it to Tenjinminami, where they will then walk South for 2 blocks on Watanabe Dori. Don't let the fact that it is not at Hakata Station turn you off, as it is still in a very central location and directly on the city subway grid.

Travelers will find the Richmond to be a step up from the Active! in elegance, appearing less cheap and more sophisticated. Another bonus that travelers will jump for about is the free wifi in rooms! Lastly as with its other branches, the continental breakfast is rather continental.

Double Occupant: $110

The hotel is perfectly situated five minutes West of Hakata JR Station by foot.
