As one of the highest rated hotels n Takayama the Associa does not disappoint.

Single bedrooms come in very affordably at about $130, and continue to as high as $400 for doubles and $900 for the suite. The rooms are in the Classic Western style, however there are Traditional Japanese rooms if one wishes to do as the Romans do.

The most raved about features of the hotel is the spa (hot springs baths) which the hotel spent eight months and 7,000,000 USD to create.

Comparable to the Associa in style & grandeur what the Plaza lacks in the way of stunning spas it makes up with a very convenient 10 minute walk from JR Takayama Station (while the Associa is a mile and a half south of the station)

Other noteworthy features of the hotel include an assortment of ‘themed rooms’ which include:

Euro Style Room

Takayama Ouan

4-126 Hanasato Cho, Takayama, Gifu Prefecture 506-0026, Japan
+81 577-37-2230

Aside from its fresh and hip design the Takayama Ouan, more impressive is mere three minute trip from JR Takayama by foot, a great virtue for many a tired traveler. The newly constructed hotel means rooms and spaces are simple, clean, fresh and modern. Westerners will find much delight in the modern Asian fusion design of the rooms. Hands down the Ouan has better & more aesthetic rooms than the more dated Plaza and Associa.

5-41 Nadamachi, Takayama, Gifu Prefecture 506-0021, Japan

If you want a three minute walk from the Takayama station but don’t want to pay for it, budget travelers will find the Alpina to be very agreeable. This very new hotel (2009) is fresh and modern.

It is hard to believe with its amazing location and wickedly designed rooms that the Aplina are so inexpensive. Aside from the great rooms and location, the hotel features a ‘sky spa’ where you can relax and look out at the city.
