Tokyo Travel Guide

Tokyo has a lot going. With over eight million people in the metropolitan area alone its no surprise that the city has much to offer in the way of tourism and sight-seeing. The city is a sprawling expanse with elements of East and West intermingled, from the most high end cosmopolitan shopping to ancient temples from a thousand years ago.

Different from New York City, L.A. and other metropolitan areas, Tokyo has several small downtowns as opposed to one central downtown. The closest thing Tokyo has to a central downtown would be the Shinjuku Business Center, which holds the cities tallest sky scrapers. The reason for this is that the city is built in a circle which follows the JR Yamanote Train line’s circular train line, with every few stations another ‘city’ so to speak. This explains all of the districts centered around train stations, such as Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro, Akihabara, and so on.

Assembled for you at your convenience are in depth descriptions and photo galleries of all of Tokyo’s top tourism spots. Gardens, Temples, Shrines, Landmarks, Parks, Shopping Districts and other points of interest.

How to use this website

While so simple a ‘how to use’ explanation isn’t even necessary, we will for the sake of tradition explain how the guide is organinzed. Our Tokyo Travel Guide is intuitively divided up into Tokyo’s main districts (such as Shinjuku or Asakusa), with each of them taken up one by one on their own page, they then break down into the features and points of interest within that district (for example, local dining, gardens, shopping, landmarks, etc). For fairly large/important features an entire page is written solely for that feature, in order to expound on it and cover its entire breadth.

Each district not only has ‘how to get there’ information at the bottom of the page, but has an accompanying map with MSN Bing Maps, that way you’ll have no problem finding these locations when you are traveling.
